  • Complete the self check-in process approximately 30 minutes prior to your move-in appointment.
  • Plan to arrive for check-in at the time of your move-in appointment.
  • Ensure you (the student) are sitting in the front seat and have your photo ID available when you enter check-in. This is where you will receive your BuzzCard, if you submitted your BuzzCard photo by the deadline.

Once you reach your unloading zone:

  • Volunteers will be present to help unload your belongings from your car into a bin.
  • Do not leave your vehicle unattended while unloading.
  • As soon as your items are in a bin, we ask that your vehicle is moved to short term parking to allow others to unload.

As you unpack, look for signage and spaces for recycling of cardboard boxes and styrofoam. Find a map of those recycling stations here.

  • Be on the lookout for an email with instructions on filling out your room condition report, how to submit a facilities request, and other ways to settle in to your new home.
  • Connect with your RA about your first floor meeting and Week of Welcome.

Arriving by car?
  • Look for signage directing you to single car and multi-car lanes.
  • The check-in location has a maximum height of 7-feet 6-inches to enter. This means U-hauls and other taller vehicles won’t be able to enter.
  • Make sure the incoming resident is in one of the front seats.
  • From check-in, our volunteers will direct you to your unloading zone.
Arriving by Rideshare?

Complete this 2-question survey.

Follow the same map to check-in at the Campus Recreation deck, where you will find a drop-off for rideshare passengers before you enter. You will check in at the entrance, and from there we will provide transportation to your residence hall with your belongings.

Arriving by Public Transit?

Complete this 2-question survey.

Take the MARTA to the Midtown/10th St. station, from there take the Stinger (campus bus system) Gold Route to the Campus Recreation stop. Then follow the signs for walk-ups that will lead you to check-in. The Gold Route will follow its typical schedule on weekdays, and from 10:00a.m. – 5:00p.m. (EST) on Saturdays.

If you arrive outside of official move-in times or after the Gold Route has stopped, we recommend a rideshare or call a Stingerette to bring you directly to your residence hall.

Move-In Tips

There are so many things to consider when you move onto campus. Here are a few tips that will help you as you make the move.

Early or Late Arrivals

Please visit our Late Arrivals Page for information on what you should do if you need to arrive outside of official move-in dates. We do not offer early arrival for individual students. Students participating in approved programs with early arrival dates will receive move-in instructions via email.

Move-In Appointment

Log in to My Housing and choose the “Move-In Appointment” link from the home page to make or change your move-in appointment by August 4 at 8:00 a.m. (EST). If you miss the deadline to change your move-in appointment, contact the Housing Help Desk.

Shipping Items

All student mail and packages are delivered through the central Georgia Tech Post Office. Incoming students will not receive a mailing address until after registration for classes. For student mail guidelines and information on how to obtain your address information, visit the Georgia Tech Post Office site. Students are responsible for sharing their address information.

The Postal Services team asks that you do not ship large items like futons, bicycles, or refrigerators. We cannot accommodate such large items in our space. Instead, take advantage of Ship-to-School: Skip the frenzy of last-minute shopping and lighten your load at move-in when you ship items ahead of time from your house or from available retailers!

  • Deadline to sign up: July 29, 2025
  • Note: Outside of this service before move-in, you cannot ship items directly to your residence hall. All other mail and packages will go through the central post office in the John Lewis Student Center. You can find your address for that post office after you register for classes by following these steps.
Room Changes

You can do it yourself. Simply log into your My Housing application and use the Room Swap tab on the gold bar. Room swap begins after all residents have selected their room. Advertise your room and search for another room you might like to change into using this online function. Once room swap ends but prior to move-in, room changes must be requested via the Housing Help Desk and after move-in, room change request are made to your Hall Director.

Verify Your Room

Make sure that the room you move into is the same room that you checked into in My Housing.  Upon arrival to your bedspace, check the room number displayed at the hallway entrance to your room and the letter over the bedroom door, if you are in an apartment or suite.

For safety reasons, do not change rooms upon arrival with another resident without approval from your Hall Director.

Room Condition

Once you move into your room, you will complete a room condition report. If you discover that a repair needs to be made, submit a Facilites Request.

Please provide specific details. You will receive a request number that enables you to follow up on the progress of your request.
