FYWE Program Pathway
Phase 1: FYWE Program Pathway – 8 Dimensions

During the fall semester, every first-year student will have the opportunity to engage in programs connected to each of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. These programs, recognized as signature or supportive, will provide students with the opportunity to learn information, adopt positive attitudes, be introduced to skills, or reflect on their own wellness practices.

We challenge every first-year student to complete the program pathway by attending 1 Signature Event or 2 Supportive Events per wellness dimension. Students can track their progress or identify events that meet program requirements in Engage on the 2025-2026 FYWE Path.

Phase 2: FYWE Program Pathway – Wellness Integration

At the end of Phase 1, students will complete a Wellness Reflection and identify two dimensions of focus for the remainder of the academic year. Students will complete this phase in Engage by writing a reflection on

  • Their wellness across the two dimensions selected
  • Their meeting 1:1 with an on-campus resource
  • Their experience implementing a daily (weekly) behavior that contributes positively to their well-being
  • Completing the FYWE post-assessment.

Progress through the program pathway will result in both individual and community prizes as residential communities complete to finish the FYWE Program Pathway – 8 Dimensions. The first 25 students to complete both phases will win a Dinner with the President!

Residential Programming
Residential Programming

Whether you are looking for a small event on your hall or want to connect with hundreds in your area, each residence hall plans regular programming to provide students with campus resources, a study break, or aide in the transition of being away from home.

Examples of residential programming:

  • Homecoming Week such as: Mini 500, Freshman Cake Race, and Flag Decorating
  • Intramurals
  • Healthy Hives such as: Yoga, Kick-Ball, Pilates, and Taidō

The 8 Dimensions of Wellness

This comprehensive program focuses on all eight dimensions of wellness—financial, spiritual, environmental, intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and occupational—ensuring a holistic approach to first-year engagement. Through intentional integration of wellness into the first-year experience, via the program pathway and peer-led conversations, FYWE helps students develop essential skills to positively impact their well-being. Regular assessments and continuous quality improvement ensure that our efforts remain effective and responsive to evolving needs.
