How Do I Manage My Contracts, Rent, and Payment?

Contracts

  • Contracts are accepted online and may be viewed or printed, as needed.
  • If you need official proof of residency, contact your Area Office.

Application Fee 

  • All students are required to pay a one-time, non-refundable $80 application fee at the time of their first housing application.  

Rent 

  • Rental rates are included on the Details page for each building on the Housing Options buildings list. 
  • Rental rates may be found on the Rates page, also. 

Payments 

  • See Payment Options on the Bursar website for various methods of payment to the Institute. 
  • All fees including meal plans, housing, and tuition must be paid to the Office of the Bursar by the payment deadline indicated on the official Georgia Tech Academic Calendar. 
How Do I Learn More About Rooms?

We do not offer tours of the residence halls at any time due to privacy reasons. Click here and select any building to take a 360º virtual tour. Visit our Room Specifications page to find a description of your room type and furniture details. Suggested Items to Bring to campus with you. Lofts may not be constructed or erected in any residence hall room; however, most rooms do contain beds that can be arranged in multiple configurations. Room dimensions:

Traditional buildings

  • East Campus – approximately 12’ X 10’ to 15’ X 11’.
  • West Campus – approximately 15’ X 11’.

Suite Style

  • Harris – 12’ X 10’.
  • Woodruff – 15’ X 12’.

Apartments

  • Bedrooms – approximately 11’ X 8’ 10”.
  • Windows – vary from 44” X 95” to 51” X 116”.
  • Blinds are installed in all windows.
How Do I Find My Roommate(s)?
  • Roommate searches can be done in My Housing. More information here.
  • Room and roommate information will be available in My Housing as soon as a room assignment has been made and can be viewed on the “Room and Roommate(s) Info” step.
How Does Dining Work for Residents?
  • Meal plans may be purchased at My Meal Plan.
    • If you have questions about your meal plan, submit a ticket through the Dining Website.
  • Check the Dining Services website for restaurant openings and hours of operation – especially during holidays and semester breaks.
Where Do I Do My Laundry?
  • Convenient laundry facilities are available for all residents. The location of the laundry for each residence hall is provided on its Building Detail page.
  • All laundry room machines are front loading washers, and detergent pods are recommended for the best results.
  • Laundry is now free in residence halls!
  • Tenth & Home Apartments have full size washers and dryers inside each apartment.
Can I Bring a Car to Campus?
  • Yes. Campus parking is arranged through Parking & Transportation Services.
  • If you do not have a room assignment at the time you need to purchase your parking pass, sign up for the area in which you think will be most convenient to your classes. You may exchange your parking permit at a later date or join a permit wait list if your preferred lot/deck is unavailable.
What is My Email and Campus Address?
  • After you register for classes you will be given an email account known as the “gtAccount”. To activate your account, simply go to passport.gatech.edu, click on I need to activate my GT account (Students Only), and enter the required information. GT Housing will communicate with students via e-mail as much as possible. Check your GT e-mail account regularly.
  • For instructions on how to access your personal mailing address and your campus mailbox visit the Georgia Tech Post Office website.
  • Deliveries are NOT made to residence halls.
What is My GTID#?
  • The GTID # is a nine digit number used as a student’s ID.
  • It will also be assigned after your application to Georgia Tech is received by admissions.
Do I Need Insurance?
  • Georgia Tech is not responsible for student belongings. In the event student belongings are damaged in the resident hall, students must claim the loss to their personal property insurance. Students are encouraged to have insurance for their personal property.

What is the Housing Contract Cancellation Policy?
  • If you decide not to attend Georgia Tech or to move off campus, you may cancel your housing online via My Housing.
  • Refer to the housing application and our Contracts and Rate page for penalties which may apply.
Incoming First-Year Residents
Are First-Year Students Required to Live on Campus?
  • While the majority of first-year students live on campus, it is not required. 
  • See the First-Year Wellness Experience page for information about the First-Year Wellness Experience program. 
New Transfer Residents
Will I Participate in a Housing Lottery?

Yes, new transfer students must apply by June 30 to be eligible for the housing lottery for academic year housing

How Do I Select My Room?

If selected from the lottery, you will receive a random room selection time ticket in July to select your room. 

New Graduate Residents
Will I Participate in a Housing Lottery?

Yes, new graduate students must apply by May 30 to be eligible for the housing lottery. If selected from the lottery, you will be eligible to live on campus for one academic year and one summer term as a graduate student.

I am a BS/MS Student. When Should I Apply for Housing?

If you are continuing your education at Georgia Tech, please wait to apply until you have been accepted to your graduate program. You will have until May 30 to apply for the lottery. If selected from the lottery, you will be eligible to live on campus for one academic year and one summer term as a graduate student.  

If you have already applied for housing as an undergraduate student, please cancel your undergraduate housing application and apply for the graduate student lottery by May 30.  

How Do I Select My Room?

If selected from the lottery, you will receive a random room selection time ticket in June to select your room. 

How Long Can I Live on Campus?

Graduate students are limited to living on campus for one academic year contract and one summer contract. Graduate students applying for a spring only contract would be ineligible for an academic year contract for the following application cycle.  

What Types of Housing are Available for Graduate Students?

Graduate students live in our Tenth and Home residence halls in either a furnished single, one bedroom or shared, two-bedroom apartment. There are only around 100 of single graduate student apartments available.  

Where Do I Do My Laundry?

Tenth & Home Apartments have full size washers and dryers inside each apartment.
