Utilizing Academic Resources

Housing and Residence Life understands the importance of your academic success at the Institute and strives to provide you with the academic support resources you need in your "home away from home".

The First-year Experience Program trains our student Resident Assistants to know where residents can seek free tutoring.  There are multiple entities that do all sorts of tutoring: from one on one tutoring, to department sponsored walk in tutoring hours in Clough Commons to the PLUS tutoring offered by Tutoring and Academic Support, Office of Undergraduate Education.

We partner with PLUS (Peer Led Undergraduate Study) to bring study sessions on topics like linear algebra and chemistry staffed by Tutoring and Academic Support to the halls.  PLUS tutors attend class with the students and then create out of class problem sets and sessions where students can learn from each other. Tutors also meet with the faculty multiple times a term so they know what material to help residents focus on!

Residence Hall Study Spaces

We also maintain some excellent study spaces so you can invite friends and study groups to meet up and learn from each other.

West Village

West Village provides social and community building spaces (both indoors and out) as a part of the overall health and wellness approach. These include indoor and outdoor lounge space, two reservable meeting spaces, five small group rooms available on a first-come, first served basis, and two outdoor terraces equipped with fire pits.

GT Connector

The GT Connector, located between Glenn and Towers Residence Halls on East Campus, provides study rooms, active learning classroom space, communal lounge space, and fitness spaces to meet the needs of residents. The connector building supports a nearly endless combination of student activities, allowing aspects of work and life to dynamically overlap.
