Unofficial Move-In Time Request

We know extenuating circumstances can arise when planning for your move-in. If you cannot move in during the official move-in days listed here, please follow the instructions below.

Arriving from an International Location?

Georgia Tech requests all individuals traveling to Atlanta from an international location to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Visit this page to find guidance and details on our limited self-isolation housing options.

First-Year Student Arrival After-Hours or After August 15

If you will arrive after hours or cannot move in on Saturday-Sunday, August 14-15, do not sign-up for a move-in appointment in My Housing. Please email information@housing.gatech.edu and include the following information:

  • Name
  • GTID
  • Expected Arrival Date
  • Expected Arrival Time
  • Reason for Request

Students who move in beginning Monday, August 16th will check-in at their area office.

Things to know:

  • Move-in assistance is not available on unofficial move-in days
  • Move-in bins are not available on unofficial move-in days
  • There is limited parking near residence halls and a parking permit is required on unofficial move-in days
  • Area Office Hours
    • Monday, August 16 - Friday, August 20: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
    • Saturday, August 21 - Sunday, August 22: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

If you arrive after office hours, call the duty Resident Assistant number located on all exterior doors of your residence hall. They will open your assigned room for you, and you will check-in at your area office the following day during office hours to pick up your key and Buzzcard.

We will confirm your arrival appointment via email.

Undergraduate and Graduate Unofficial Move-In Day Request

Please follow the instructions below to request an unofficial move-in day or after hours move-in appointment.

Note: Thursday, August 19th arrival requests will only be approved for those in extreme circumstances. You will need to select a move-in appointment on Friday or Saturday, August 20-21.

Log in to My Housing and complete the "Unofficial Move-In Request Form" found in the RESOURCES tab on the gold navigation bar.

Things to know:

  • Students will not be approved to move-in during First-Year Move-In on August 14 or 15. (Except for GLC and Tenth and Home students.)
  • Move-in assistance is not available on unofficial move-in days.
  • Move-in bins are not available on unofficial move-in days
  • There is limited parking near residence halls and a parking permit is required on unofficial move-in days and after hours
  • Area Office Hours
    • Friday, August 13 and Monday, August 16 - Friday, August 20: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
    • Saturday, August 21 - Sunday, August 22: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

If you are approved to arrive after office hours, call the duty Resident Assistant number located on all exterior doors of your residence hall when you arrive. They will open your assigned room for you, and you will check-in at your area office the following day during office hours to get instructions for picking up your key and BuzzCard if necessary.

Late Arrival - After Classes Begin

If you plan to arrive beginning Monday, August 23, the first day of classes, call the Central Housing Office at 404-894-2470 or email your name, gtID#, and estimated time of arrival to information@housing.gatech.edu. Unless we know that you do plan to check into your room late, it is possible that you would be declared a no-show and your room given to another student.
